RemoteCW Concept

RemoteCW Scheme

RemoteCW is a multi-user Internet client-server application for remote keying of a remote-controlled station. A K1EL Winkeyer or a microHAM Keyer is required on the remote base station to key the transmitter. RemoteCW uses the TCP protocol for an easy installation behind routers and firewalls. More than one user can connect to one server; the CW echoes are broadcasted to all connected users. "Heartbeats" keep the Internet connection alive and measure the round-trip latency and the quality of the Internet connection.

RemoteCW Client

RemoteCW Client

The RemoteCW Client user interface has nine message buffers, two typeahead buffers and a keyboard mode. It can generate an immediate CW Sidetone on the client computer's soundcard as an audible indication for the CW operator. The character echoes from WinKey or the remote base server are sent back to the client and displayed in a ticker as a visible indication. Keying can be aborted instantly. The CW speed can be changed at any time, also during transmission. A local K1EL WinKey and paddles are optional.

RemoteCW Server

RemoteCW Server

The RemoteCW Server user interface is showing information about the TCP server, the attached K1EL WinKeyer and the users connected to the server. Access to the RemoteCW Server is limited to registered users and is password-protected as defined in the Server settings. More than one user can connect to one server, the CW echoes are broadcasted to all connected users.

You need to specify a TCP port your RemoteCW Server is "listening" to for incoming connects. Be sure to open this TCP Port in your firewall and DSL router on the server or remote base station.

You should use your transceiver's VOX for CW keying. RemoteCW does not support and use a PTT line to key your transmitter.

Settings

Before you start doing anything set up RemoteCW correctly using the Settings. Click on the Settings button in the Server and the File | Settings menu item in the Client software.
