Great Success on 160m with 859 NA QSOs
The Market Lighthouse was built 1885 to guide important sea routes at the stormy Baltic Sea. Market is under Republic of Finland jurisdiction, being a small piece of Finland beyond another DXCC country, Aland Islands, OH0.
Market was still manned 1969 when it qualified as a new DXCC country and became known throughout the world. In that same year at Christmas, 40-years ago, Market Reef was activated for the first time (OJ0MR) by the team led by Martti, OH2BH with Erkki, OH2BW, Raimo, OH2KK and the late Sigge, OH0NI, soon followed by lighthouse keeper Karl-Erik Eriksson entering the bands as OJ0MA under sponsorship of the NCDXF.
That experience catapulted Martti, OH2BH to other adventures of his life and along the way dozen or so new DXCC countries were put on the air.
During generator maintenance in May 2008, a SteppIR beam was hoisted plus 300 liters of generator fuel was ferried to prepare for a 10-day stay in the autumn. September weather turned out to be mild with a minimum of Aurora while a low K-index provided us with a great week. Upon our return to Aland Islands, we put to fire our operating outfits and all of us took all showers that we had missed for ten days. Hope you had as much fun chasing us as we had pulling you ashore on those barren rocks.

The May & September 2008 OJ0B/OJ0J activity was authorized by the Finnish Maritime Administration (FMA) and shared with the Finnish Lighthouse Society FLS). Altogether 26,341 QSOs were made, this time emphasizing low bands and RTTY. Here are the results; 160m 2975, (including 859 NA and 301 AS JA), 80m 2750, 30m 3892, RTTY 3152 and 6m 804.
