Fast Log Entry (FLE) - Step-by-Step

You start your log with the date, band and mode of the first QSO. There is just one Keyword necessary - DATE. The keywords BAND and MODE are optional. All Keywords are not case-sensitive.

1 date 30-11-2010
2 band 20

BAND can be for example 160, 80, 40...
Next you enter the mode in a new, single line, for example CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31. The keyword MODE is optional.

1 date 30-11-2010
2 band 20
3 cw

Modes can be for example CW, SSB, RTTY...
We now have all basic data and can start to enter the QSOs, line by line:

1 date 30-11-2010
2 band 20
3 cw
4 2347 df3cb

This means the first QSO was with DF3CB on November 30, 2010 at 2347 on 20m CW.
The next QSO was with DL6RAI at 2348:

1 date 30-11-2010
2 band 20
3 cw
4 2347 df3cb
5 8 dl6rai

Also at 2348 you work DJ2MX. Simply enter DJ2MX because the time has not changed:

1 date 30-11-2010
2 band 20
3 cw
4 2347 df3cb
5 8 dl6rai
6 dj2mx

Three minutes later you have worked DL4MCF. You enter 51 for the part of the time that has changed. Later, when the ADIF file is created, standard reports depending on the mode are set. If you want to enter a sent report other than 59/599, simply enter it after the callsign. 579 in this case.

1 date 30-11-2010
2 band 20
3 cw
4 2347 df3cb
5 8 dl6rai
6 dj2mx
7 51 dl4mcf 579

If you want to enter a received report other than 59/599, simply enter it at the end of the line with a preceeding @:

1 date 30-11-2010
2 band 20
3 cw
4 2347 df3cb
5 8 dl6rai
6 dj2mx
7 51 dl4mcf 579 @559

Comments can be added at the end of a line with a preceeding #:

5 8 dl6rai

The next QSO is a day later on December 1, 2010 at 0005 on 15m SSB. You enter the keyword DATE plus you change band and mode:

1 date 30-11-2010
2 band 20
3 cw
4 2347 df3cb
5 8 dl6rai
6 dj2mx
7 51 dl4mcf 579 @559 #Good contact

9 date 01-12-2010
10 band 15

This is all very simple. The text editor file can be saved and later opened again. Click on the Update button or press F5 to fill the log data grid with the QSO records. Then click on Save as ADIF file to export the QSO data into an ADIF file. The ADIF file can be imported into your logging software.
